Six out of eight newly revamped outdoor sport and play areas are now open for local residents and children to enjoy over the spring holidays.

Eight separate outdoor sport and play areas across the Savona Estate, Patmore Estate and at the Yvonne Carr Centre are being improved with refurbishments or new equipment to make them accessible for everyone to enjoy.

The play area outside the Yvonne Carr Centre is set to open mid-April, with work to continue on one of the Savona outdoor areas.

Every area on the sport and play trail will have new signage and include soft landscaping such as plants, grass and trees.

Patmore Estate and the Yvonne Carr Centre areas will have a greater focus on sensory planting and have features like bug hotels and birdboxes to encourage wildlife.

Residents have been a key part of shaping the outdoor areas through consultations, meetings and feedback.

The upgrades and introduction of new equipment in existing recreational areas are part of Wandsworth Council’s programme of improvement to public spaces in the area. Works began in November of last year and are on track to be completed this spring. Find out more about the Nine Elms sport and play upgrades.
