Opportunities

The area is home to a young, talented and highly skilled population and a successful network of local businesses. Key for the Partnership is ensuring these existing communities benefit from the huge transformation taking place, as well as attracting new businesses and workers. Cultural activity already defines Vauxhall and culture will continue to be one of the area’s strengths, building a world class offer. Public realm improvements will include the river walk, the new Nine Elms linear park and better connections to the surrounding area’s green spaces including Battersea Park and Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

Jobs

Up to 22,000 construction jobs are being created in Nine Elms between now and 2022. Employment opportunities are being targeted at local residents to ensure existing communities in and around the area are among the first to benefit. The development programme will generate up to 1,000 apprenticeship places – more than the Crossrail project and Olympic site put together. Once the building programme is complete the regenerated area will provide up to 25,000 permanent jobs. A magnet for the digital, creative, healthcare and education sectors, we are already starting to witness significant growth in catering and hospitality with new hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants appearing throughout the area.
