Sign up for the free intensive five-day course later this month on how to start a career in the hospitality sector.

This entry-level hands-on course at Mission Kitchen, Nine Elms, will give you a foundation in the industry and culinary skills to work in a live restaurant.

The Wandsworth Council’s Lifelong Learning team has teamed up with Mission Kitchen and the Into Hospitality partnership to help Wandsworth residents make the most of local opportunities in the hospitality sector.

Mission Kitchen is a new social food enterprise for London’s next generation of food entrepreneurs, supporting small food businesses with big ideas. The initiative is located within The Food Exchange, a new building dedicated to food enterprise in the heart of New Covent Garden Market, London’s leading fresh produce market specialising in fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The course at Mission Kitchen is being delivered by one of the Into Hospitality partners, Electric Mayonnaise. At the end attendees will get a trial placement at one of Into Hospitality’s partner restaurants.

Into Hospitality promotes hospitality as a career and offers courses, training, and work placements at some of London’s best and most respected independent restaurants. The organisation has already run eight previous courses, and seventy per cent of the people taking part have got a job as a result.

The Nine Elms area is undergoing rapid transformation with the creation of 20,000 homes and 25,000 post-construction jobs.

Cllr Rhodri Morgan, Wandsworth Council’s cabinet member for skills and employment, said: “The hospitality industry is a vital part of the Wandsworth economy. This partnership between the council, Into Hospitality and Mission Kitchen provides an opportunity for local people to access high quality training in a live kitchen and will enable them to make the most of the many employment opportunities opening up in this sector. It’s also a way of making sure Wandsworth’s pubs, bars and restaurants get the staff they need.”

The course will run from 31 January to 4 February during 10am to 4pm. Sign up by emailing hello@electricmayonnaise.co.uk
