Learn about all the creative and tech opportunities in Wandsworth through Stride, a talent development programme for South Londoners which is creating opportunity and supporting creative and tech enterprises.

Wandsworth Council and Lambeth Council work in partnership with Lewisham and Southwark to bring opportunities in the creative industries such as architecture, advertising, tech, and filmmaking to South London.

Whether you’re an artist, tech whiz, gamer or a musician – there’s something for everyone. Find out what suits you to take that next step in your career, if you’re just starting out or need some help to get to where you want to be, see all the opportunities below to find out what’s best for you.

All opportunities are free to access and available to people living in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, and Wandsworth aged 18+. Please check eligibility for each programme through the Stride website.


University of the Arts London (UAL) Creative Futures

UAL, the largest specialist art, and design university in Europe, offers a free 12-month programme of workshops, talks and mentoring for creative and tech entrepreneurs.

Applications are open to underrepresented young people aged 18-25 from Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, and Wandsworth.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

NXHub at Goldsmiths, University of London

If you’re starting out with a creative business, these in-depth workshops on creative entrepreneurship, insight sessions from guest speakers, one-to-one mentoring, workspace visits and grant funding opportunities could be just for you.

This intensive course supports 30 new creative ventures with free workshops and a £1,000 grant to cover costs including equipment, workspaces or product prototypes.

Delivered by creative enterprise experts from Goldsmiths’ Institute for Creative & Cultural Entrepreneurship SYNAPSE programme and social enterprise partners Do It Now Now.

Open to anyone living in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, or Wandsworth aged 18+. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Does Ltd (Mentor Black Business, M&C Saatchi Saturday School, Black Business Incubator)

Three strands of practical business support activities for young Black entrepreneurs, each offering something unique. Gain advice and guidance from business industry leaders through Mentor Black Business, start your creative entrepreneurial journey at the M&C Saatchi Saturday School, and access creative workspace and mentoring through the Black Business Incubator at Somerset House.

Eligibility for each Does Ltd programme can be checked here. Applicants must live in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, or Wandsworth. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Fastrackers

A 10-week course to fast-track learning the skills needed to work in the games industry. Stride has partnered with Spiral Skills, Game Anglia and Into Games on Fastrackers, a training programme with a mission to make the gaming industry accessible for everyone.

This course is designed for people who want to develop their skills and get ready to start a career in the gaming industry. You must be aged 18 to 30 years old and based in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, or Wandsworth to apply. The deadline is ongoing with the programme launching summer 2022.

Step into Work

Passionate about Film and Television?

Get hands-on training for a career in Film and TV. Iconic Steps and Creative Sparkworks have joined forces to deliver this film-making programme providing practical skills training as well as support to develop personal and professional resilience.

You must be aged 18-30 years old and based in Wandsworth, Lambeth, Southwark, or Lewisham to apply, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Emerge

Break into the music industry with the Emerge programme, powered by World Heart Beat Music Academy. Gain the skills, networks and experience essential to building sustainable careers in the music industry.

This programme is perfect for emerging musicians, artists, bedroom producers and anyone passionate about a career in music. You can apply for this programme if you’re aged 16-25 and live in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark or Wandsworth.

Launch London

LDN Apprenticeships and Refugee Force are partnering on Launch London, a programme designed to provide support for refugees and asylum seekers to learn the digital skills required to start careers in Salesforce.

This programme is designed for unemployed refugees and asylum seekers based in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark or Wandsworth. Please be aware that you will need to prove your right to work and remain in the UK to take part. Applications are ongoing.
