Are all those cranes and high-rises piquing your interest? Do you fancy discovering an under-explored part of central London? Better make a weekend of it!

Here’s our recipe for a summer weekend in Nine Elms and Vauxhall:

Better start with a good brunch:

  • Brunswick House – This antique-filled Georgian mansion serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Built for the Duke of Brunswick in 1758, this is an Instagrammable space with delicious food.
  • Madeira Cafe – a family business serving all-day breakfast and a fantastic selection of Portuguese dishes. We go nuts for their natas!

Then how about one of the local parks to enjoy some sunshine?

Greenery is good for you; it’s what brings life to the neighbourhoods and there are plenty of spots to check out as we get more #sunkissed. Whether it’s Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, Battersea Park, Larkhall Park or Riverlight Quay, there’s an ever-growing abundance of green spaces around Nine Elms and Vauxhall.

And maybe a spot of culture: Gasworks

Gasworks is a non-profit contemporary visual art organisation that features emerging UK-based and international artists to present their first major exhibition in the UK. That means they’ve worked with over 250 artists from 70 countries around the world.

Many of the alumni have gone on to exhibit at major institutions and art venues as well as winning coveted awards like the Turner Prize, Absolut Award and Pinchuk Art Prize.

By visiting Gasworks, you’ll get the inside scoop on up-and-coming artists and their development of new work in London.

Find their exhibitions and events here.

Admission: Free

A quick pick-me-up coffee:

  • The Coffee Lovers fl Cafe – delicious food, superb coffee and cosy atmosphere along Wandsworth Road
  • Knot Artisan Coffee & Pretzels – right at Vauxhall Station, this spot couldn’t be more handy and tasty! Grab some grub to go and enjoy it along the way or in a nearby park.

Time for a stroll:

  • Walk along Nine Elms Lane and you’ll see our red carpet of celebrity architects. It’s what we like to call the area’s Starchitecture!

And finally, some dinner:

  • Atami – This superb Japanese overlooking the river at Riverlight is fresh, brand new and awaiting your taste buds. Atami’s bento boxes, crunchy tempura or grilled cod are delectable. Not to mention their wide array of sushi, sashimi, rice and noodle bowls.
  • No29 Power Station West – From morning coffee and brunch through to dinner and a nightcap, this breath-taking neighbourhood pub offers it all. This new kid on the block is that talk of the town!
