Calling artists to design New Covent Garden Market mural

New Covent Garden Market are calling artists of all ages and career stages to apply to present an artwork for the 20m long building facade on Nine Elms Lane.

Do you have an artwork proposal that celebrates one or more of the three things that make the market so special – fruit, vegetables and flowers? New Covent Garden Market are looking for a design that will help foster a relationship between the market and Londoners while also providing a unique and attractive facade to neighbours, local community, customers and visitors to Nine Elms.

The commission can feature photography, painting, text work or any other two-dimensional medium.

Closing date: 6 September 2019

There are tours of the market on Tuesday 30 July and Wednesday 31 July from 5.15 – 7.15am to give you a taste of the markets and help inspire your designs – to take part email hello@cgma.co.uk with your name, contact phone number and preferred date.

The initiative started in 2018 with artist Anna Skladmann presenting ‘Ghost In The Machine – Understanding The Language of Flowers’ during Art Night 2018 which ran across Nine Elms, Vauxhall and South Bank.

Collaborating with contemporary art festival Art Night, the annual commission is funded by VSM (VINCI St Modwen), New Covent Garden Market’s redevelopment partner.
