Free and on your doorstep – here’s the opportunity for families in Nine Elms to ‘Try it Here & Take it Home’. Join an activity session and pick up the tools to help you continue the learning afterwards with your family.

Read, make and take
Families can explore the joy of reading and storytelling during this interactive session. The workshops are themed around a classic children’s story and include engaging, multi-sensory storytelling and a craft activity – which will involve making props to help bring the book to life – and then families can take these props home for future use. At the end of the session, the families will perform the books to the group!

Adults with children aged 18 months – 6 years (max 2 children per adult).

When: Mon 21 October, 10am-12noon
Where: Yvonne Carr Children’s Centre, 2 Thessaly Road, SW8 4HT

Baby talking
Parents can explore the benefits of reading aloud to their child from an early age. The interactive session will give parents the opportunity to practise using rhythm, rhyme, expression, tone actions etc (and a bit of drama too!) to make it fun and engaging. Each family attending the session will receive a goody bag to encourage them to join the library and commit to reading aloud to their babies every day.

Adults with a baby aged 0-18 months.

When: Mon 21 October, 1pm-2:30pm
Where: Yvonne Carr Children’s Centre, 2 Thessaly Road, SW8 4HT

Become a wellbeing warrior
This taster session uses a mindful approach to encourage health and wellbeing – raising your awareness of having a healthy diet, good breathing techniques and the importance of physical activity. Come along in comfortable clothing as participants will take part in a movement activity incorporating strength, balance and mindfulness.

Adults and children aged 5+ (max 2 children per adult).

When: Fri 25 October, 1pm-3pm
Where: Yvonne Carr Children’s Centre, 2 Thessaly Road, SW8 4HT
