Planning and Regen and Renewal magazines have named Nine Elms on the South Bank as the top regeneration project in the country.

Their annual ‘Top 100’ competition ranks regeneration schemes in terms of the scale of investment.

This year Nine Elms on the South Bank came first, beating The Olympic Park into second place. Greenwich Peninsula placed third.

Helen Fisher, Nine Elms Programme Director said: “This underlines the sheer scale of the project and shows the industry we are open for business. Nine Elms on the South Bank will be one of the greatest sources of new jobs and homes in the country for many years to come.”

The area-wide project includes more than £12 billion of new investment and aims to create 25,000 new jobs and in excess of 16,000 new homes.

Nine Elms on the South Bank covers 195 hectares of central London real estate between Lambeth Bridge and Chelsea Bridge, including Vauxhall town centre, the new US Embassy and Battersea Power Station.

The majority of this vast regeneration area is now being redeveloped in a coordinated delivery programme which covers more than 25 interconnected investment sites.
