World Heart Beat Music Academy has been singled out from a field of 42 organisations to become the newest cultural tenant at Embassy Gardens, EcoWorld Ballymore’s   multi-billion pound regeneration project in London’s Nine Elms.  Ecoworld Ballymore, together with Wandsworth Council, chose World Heart Beat to create and drive a new educational, cultural and performance venue, to open in 2019.

World Heart Beat’s dynamic new creative space at Embassy Gardens will include a fully equipped 110 seat auditorium and state-of-the-art educational, recording and broadcasting facilities. With almost a quarter of their £2 million fundraising target already achieved, World Heart Beat are still seeking further investment through major grants, donations, sponsorships and performance events.

Nurturing Young Musical Talent in the Community

World Heart Beat is a fresh, modern award winning music charity that envisions a global environment where music, as a universal form of communication, bridges cultural, political, economic and linguistic barriers. Its Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation status reflects its key role in teaching musical excellence to a highly diverse young community.

Whatever their background, World Heart Beat students are taught, mentored and nurtured by top industry professionals and the best musicians, themselves inspired to pass on their knowledge – with no financial constraints.  Since 2002, World Heart Beat has motivated over 1,000 children to learn, thrive and succeed from creating and playing music.

Bringing Performance Power to Embassy Gardens

Embassy Gardens is a landmark development set within the Nine Elms regeneration area which will provide nearly 2,000 new homes for Londoners when complete. The development forms part of one of London’s newest neighbourhoods, characterised by its vibrant community, exclusive amenities and its unique situation next to the brand new US Embassy. World Heart Beat is therefore a perfect fit for Embassy Gardens and cultural and creative vibrancy is central to the ethos of the scheme.

World Heart Beat Founder Sahana Gero MBE says:

“Embassy Gardens is going to elevate us to a completely new level. It means that our concept for changing the lives of the next generation of raw talent through music education can become a reality for much greater numbers than we can reach currently.  It will support our ambitions to create more outstanding concerts and innovative programmes and will open up thousands of opportunities for young people who find inspiration and lifelong success through music.

Commenting on the development’s newest cultural tenant, Dato’ Teow Leong Seng, President & CEO of EcoWorld International said:

“As a business EcoWorld has always had the celebration of music at its core. Internally we promote talent through our very own EcoWorld choir, and we are delighted that this meaningful partnership extends further our dedication to the arts, allowing more children to thrive through creating and playing music.”

Sean Mulryan, CEO of Ballymore Group added:

“The World Heartbeat Foundation’s move is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to supporting arts and culture, and we hope that the new performance space will become a musical hub for young people of all backgrounds to learn and develop their creative talent.  Music has always been something close to my heart, and can be a really positive influence on young people, helping inspire their creativity.”

Leader of Wandsworth Council, Cllr Ravi Govindia, said:

“I am delighted to welcome World Heart Beat to Nine Elms, the second cultural anchor to be announced.  Art and culture is at the heart of our vision for Nine Elms and World Heart Beat are well known for championing music education of all kinds to young people in the borough.  I am proud that the Council has played its part it helping to nurture this very popular and well respected local organisation and the move to Nine Elms will open their services up to residents in Battersea and beyond. This will contribute to creating a vibrant hub of activity in the developing the Embassy quarter – helping to link communities, new and existing, across the Nine Elms area.”
