Thessaly Road was once again animated with colour, fun and music for the third Happy Streets Festival that took place on Saturday 9 July.
Hundreds of people came along to the festival which included live music, theatre and dance performances, arts and crafts workshops, yoga and mindfulness sessions.

Delighted families watched star turns from local artists World Heart Beat’s Contemporary Gig Band, Battersea Arts Centre’s Beatbox Academy, NeonElevate, Bollywood dancing with Mohit Mathur and Battersea Power Station Community Choir.
Children and adults took part in arts workshops with Nine Elms Arts Ministry and created colourful Rangoli-inspired painting with Jayson Singh.

It was playtime in the school hall with The Growth House bringing brilliant silliness workshops and outside in the playground, football stars in the making were coached by Ginga Soccer School.
The Happy Streets parade was fronted by World Heart Beat’s Second Line New Orleans band, followed by NeonElevate dancers. The parade made its way through the Patmore Estate, moving on to Carey Gardens where family performances from Tit for Tat theatre and Heather Duster entertained festival goers, along with mural painting with Bryonie Mathews and fortune telling with The Camberwell Incredibles.
Over at the ROSE, audiences came to watch E33 Dance performances and took part in dance workshops. Outside in the ROSE community garden, people queued to make their own delicious pizzas with Pizza Midwife. MEGA MEGA worked with children throughout the day with arts and crafts to create their own show, performed on the St George’s school main stage in the afternoon.
Around the festival, sporty characters Tootles and Nibs encouraged active play with races and giant footballs, Miss Bubblina filled the air with beautiful bubbles, Eek & Wild gave fabulous pop-up dance performances and the Divine Company went above and beyond on their stilts throughout the day.
At Happy Streets community venues, artist Sol Golden Sato worked with children and adults alike on his Happy Feet art project on Ascalon Ball Court. Over at Patmore Forest Garden, Urban Canopy held gardening workshops where people were able to take home cuttings of herbs and plants to grow at home and at Stewarts Road Adventure Playground, Big Up Communities filled the day with activities including live music, a barbecue, and workshops.

Happy Streets 2022 was programmed and produced by Swans Events on behalf of Wandsworth Council.
The event was supported using public funding from Arts Council England and also supported by VINCI St Modwen.
