Newly-planted trees along Thessaly Road in Nine Elms were given a good watering this spring by pupils from nearby St George’s CE Primary School as they joined Wandsworth Cllr Steffi Sutters.
The three hornbeam trees, chosen for hardiness and year-round leaf cover, have been planted as part of Wandsworth Council’s improvements to local landscaping alongside changes to the road layout and the introduction of a new Business Low Emissions Neighbourhood in the area. A new Northern Line Tube station is also set to open nearby this autumn.
