For those who have stuck to their New Years resolutions or those who haven’t, there are plenty of options for getting fit and staying active in the Nine Elms area. If you’re a resident or live nearby, there’s a sporty selection to suit you:

  1. Running routes

    Battersea Park loop:
Battersea Park is an elegant green space along the Thames that is popular with local runners. The 3 km, flat, paved Carriage Drive loop around Battersea Park and the running track at Millennium Arena are both excellent locations for your weekly speed work. In addition to the 8-lane track, Millennium Arena offers 19 tennis courts and a fitness centre complete with exercise classes and shower and changing facilities.
    Escape the City/Thames Path run:
Running the Thames path away from Central London you will slowly see the city melt away as you run alongside pretty wooded parks. In some places the path changes from pavement to dirt, providing some relief for the joints. You can run as far as you like and take the train back to the start.

If you start at Battersea Power Station and go to Richmond, it’s a distance of 12.3 miles.
  2. Cycling routes

    Battersea Park loop
The Carriage Drive around Battersea Park is a leisurely ride of approximately 2 miles but is a great warm up for launching into the Cycle Superhighway 8 or to Richmond Park and beyond.
  3. Walks
Throughout the area, there are parks and green spaces to enjoy on springtime and summertime walks. Bring a camera or a picnic blanket and soak up the sun.

    Riverside Walk

    Thames Path

    Larkhall Park

    Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens
  4. Yoga

Whether it’s at the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens or the other parks around Nine Elms, morning yoga takes place every now and then. Check the ‘What’s On’ section in Outdoors to find out about these events.
  5. ClassesThe exciting Boom Cycle at Battersea Power Station’s Circus West Village will have two indoor cycling studios with a state-of-the-art sound system for you to jam along during your workouts. Not to mention the communal areas for riders to socialise, work or simply relax.
