The name Chokhi Dhani – meaning ‘fine village’ – has become synonymous with a vibrant, adventure-park-like experience in India. The opulent and marvelous mock Rajasthani village provides an array of traditional entertainment like dancers, acrobats, and shows as well as snack stalls and open air restaurants serving Rajasthani deliciousness.

Chokhi Dhani, founded by Gul Vaswani in 1990, was set up to preserve and celebrate Rajasthani culture, since growing to include a number of resorts in India and achieving India’s Most Innovative Tourism Project by the Ministry of Tourism.

The Chokhi Dhani brand expanded into the food scene approximately ten years ago, with its latest restaurant opening at Riverlight, along Nine Elms Lane. This new addition to the Nine Elms dining scene combines fine food, a colourful atmosphere, and exceptional service.

Signposted by an awe-inspiring, life-size, two tonne bronze sculpture of an elephant, the space is full of intricate art pieces and decorations. The walls are adorned with marble and bronze reliefs: one showing the luxurious harem life and another the Hindu festival of Teej. Entering Chokhi Dhani, you are immediately transported into a maharaja palace aesthetic (and most ornaments, chairs, and furniture is on sale too if you fall in love with a particular piece!).

The menu brings an equally rich multitude of tastes and flavours.

From a full tandoor grill selection to share plates, the sumptuous food options cater to all taste buds. The brilliant head chef, Vishnu Natarajan, comes from the acclaimed Carom in Soho and is joined by senior sous chef Mohammed Naseem Qureshi (Bombay Bustle, Lotus) and pastry chef Rakesh Sharma (Chutney Mary, Mint Leaf).

Dishes include baby squid stuffed with shrimps and king scallops, pulled slow cooked rabbit, ostrich with black pepper and yoghurt, and mango paneer.

Desserts range from the gulab jamun and pistachio cake to mango and cardamom panna cotta and creme brûlée.

To enjoy this exquisite dining experience, head to 2 Riverlight Quay.

Until the end of May, enjoy 20% off all food and between 4pm – 6pm, all drinks are 25% off.
