Vauxhall Park owes its existence to a group of formidable Victorian ladies including the great suffragist Millicent Fawcett, who is commemorated by a plaque in the Park, and Octavia Hill (co-founder of the National Trust and a renowned Social Reformer).
My walk is on Vauxhall Park – past, present and future. We are meeting on the terrace of Parco Cafe in the Park at 2.30pm. The walk is free but donations are welcome and split between the Friends of Vauxhall Park and Friends of Tate South Lambeth Library. You just might be surprised by the history of the park which links Melbourne (Australia), the Horniman Museum, Vauxhall Motor Company and Fanny Wilkinson, the first professional female Landscape Designer.
