Earlier this year Wandsworth Council and London Festival of Architecture launched a competition to improve the appearance and feel of Thessaly Road Railway Bridge for existing communities, pedestrians and cyclists. In keeping with LFA’s mission to harness the talent of London’s architectural and creative community, the aim of the competition was to bring fresh ideas to improving the built environment in this key location, and act as a valuable demonstration project for similar sites across London and elsewhere.

Following the meeting of an expert panel to assess the shortlisted proposals on design and feasibility, the winning entry will be announced before the end of this year’s LFA. The winning team will be awarded £20,000 to further develop the design which, subject to planning consent, will be installed as part of London Festival of Architecture 2019. The overall budget for the project is £200,000.

The exhibition will also be open to the public on Tuesday 19th June, 12-5pm at the ROSE Community Centre, although the public consultation will have closed. The designs will be publicly viewable on the railings of St George’s Primary school throughout the consultation period.

Feedback can also be submitted online through Wandsworth Council’s consultation portal: https://haveyoursay.citizenspace.com/wandsworthhrd/thessaly/
