Join the Garden Museum each Thursday throughout August to cook recipes inspired by the edible flowers in the Flower Fairies watercolours. Each week they’ll focus on two of the fairies.

In the second workshop you’ll cook recipes inspired by the Strawberry and Pansy flower fairies.

Pansy flowers are edible, and can be used to great effect in both sweet and savoury dishes adding a pop of colour. Today we’ll be making a salad combining them with seasonal leaves, making skewers for our main dish, and will also have fun with strawberries in a delicious dessert.

Sample recipes

  • Leafy summer salad with edible pansies
  • Vegetable & halloumi skewers
  • Strawberry fool

During the workshop we will learn about these ingredients, flavours and uses as well as practicing our knife skills, and learning how to follow a recipe. At the end of the session we will eat everything we’ve cooked!

The course will take place in our food learning studio. All food and equipment is provided and the session includes a light vegetarian lunch.

The cooking workshop is ideally suited to children aged 6-10 accompanied by an adult. However if children have attended one of our cooking workshops at the Garden Museum before and are aged 8 and above they may attend unaccompanied.

We will be hosting a cooking workshop for this age group every Thursday in the school summer holidays.  Check out our events page for news of other classes.

Tickets £3* per person, per day (Children and adults need a ticket).
