ONGOING DURING GALLERY HOURS

Alongside We are having a little flirt, exhibiting artist Anneke Kampman collaborates with Tom Varley to present ‘Spin the bottle’. Drop in to the gallery’s Project Space as visitors are invited to play a game which uses chance as a creative tool – let the spinning bottle decide what is made.

“In flirtation you never know whether the beginning of the story – the story of an exchange, the story of a relationship – will be the end. Flirtation exploits the idea of surprise; it constitutes a way of cultivating wishes, of playing with time. By keeping the future open, it cultivates a space for deferral where no real choices are made.”
– Adam Phillips, On Flirtation.

Following the bottle’s instructions, drop in to create stories, scenes or songs. Over the course of the exhibition, materials produced will gradually fill the Project Space. Join this event on Sunday 8 July as the project culminates in a final video presentation of a new work created by ‘spin’ players across the project.
