Still Standing, Not Standing Still – Part 1 Choreographed by Lorraine Roberts

still standing not standing still other youth RH edit

As part of a summer programme of public art in the area, Lorraine Roberts is creating a new, site-specific performance piece incorporating dance and spoken word.

Choreographer Lorraine Roberts has worked with young people, older people and students at the Royal Academy of Dance to create two performances inspired by the sculpture present around Battersea Power Station and Embassy Gardens. The choreography takes its cues from the form, structure and the ideas that informed the creation of the original artworks. As a promenade piece, the dance will also create links between different artworks, as they are linked in space.

Originally trained as a dancer and choreographer Lorraine Roberts had performed extensively for others including a stint at ‘Lips’ dance company before setting up ‘Lorraine Roberts and Co.’, a professional dance company specialising in contemporary dance and physical theatre. In addition she also set up her sister company ‘London Skate Crew’ a skate dance and instruction company, reflecting her ever-present childhood passion for skating. Her work has taken her to far flung places including Singapore and Stockholm.
