This year’s popular Open House weekend follows the theme of ‘social’ as buildings across the capital open their doors to the public.
Here in Nine Elms, the US Embassy on Nine Elms Lane is open to visitors on Saturday 21 September with a tour and architects’ talk.
Officially opened in January 2018, the modern design of the Embassy incorporates the latest in energy-efficient building techniques and was designed by Kieran Timberlake.

Further east on Albert Embankment, the International Maritime Organization is opening on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
The only UN organisation with headquarters in London, it is a specialised agency responsible for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine pollution by ships. It opened in 1983, designed by Douglass Marriott.
