Between 10th-26th June, Nine Elms on the South Bank will host a series of events as part of London Festival of Architecture (LFA) 2014, at several venues including one of the area’s icons, Battersea Power Station. The core event will be an architectural showcase of the area’s exceptional architecture, between 19th-22nd June, which will bring together the models, architectural drawings, videos and CGIs of the developments in the area, presented by those involved.
The area is host to a ‘who’s who’ of the world’s greatest architects with Gehry Partners LLP, Foster & Partners, Rogers Stirk Harbour, Rafael Viñoly Architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox among others represented across Nine Elms. In addition, the public realm is being shaped with a linear park tying together the exceptional developments.
The showcase takes its influence from this year’s LFA theme of ‘Capital’, looking at how the area will contribute to London: transforming underutilised industrial land into an attractive new district to live, work and play, creating a rich cultural hub; building a partnership of international architects, construction firms and designers in Nine Elms and attracting huge amounts of inward investment to London.
The full LFA 2014: Nine Elms on the South Bank programme is detailed below.
