Woven in to the fabric of London’s post-war identity, Battersea Power Station was created to meet the energy demands of a new age and become an industrial icon as the producer of a fifth of the capital’s power for over half a century.
Today, over 30 years since the power station produced electricity, the building and its surroundings are now transforming into a leading mixed-use urban quarter unlike anything seen before.
In an exclusive LFA event, David Twohig, Head of Design + Placemaking for Battersea Power Station; Ian Simpson and Rachel Haugh of SimpsonHaugh and partner; and Philip Marsh of dRMM will be unveiling the story behind the first buildings set to open in 2016 that will begin the transformation of this industrial icon into a new post industrial destination for London.
‘From Industrial to Post Industrial’ will provide an in-depth look at the design process of the buildings and explore the site’s public realm and how it will be activated and animated when the doors open next year.
Guests will also be able to explore a number of architectural models and have the chance to meet the architects working on Circus West.
