Take part in Happy Feet, a collective family painting event with Sol Golden Sato

‘HAPPY FEET’ invites you to a collective family painting event, a celebration of creativity and wellbeing using dancing feet to make a massive painting. Everyone of all ages is welcome to paint and dance.

Urban Canopy will be returning to Patmore Forest Garden for gardening workshops from 10am

Patmore Forest Garden

10.00 – 1.00

Gardening workshop with Urban Canopy

The morning workshop will be focused on gardening skills. Urban Canopy will guide people in how to care for the garden and how to plant a range of edible and flowering plants from seed. Those who attend will be invited to take cuttings from a variety of mint plants that they can then take home with them for replanting. 

2.00 – 5.00

Harvesting workshop with Urban Canopy

The afternoon session will be focused on demonstrating how to harvest and prepare foods from the garden. There will be a wide range of edible fruits, leaves and flowers in the garden, including blackcurrants, chard, mint, sea kale and many more. They will demonstrate how to harvest these foods and also how some of them can be prepared.

About

St George’s Church

St George’s Church is lovely modern spaces of Thessaly Road in Nine Elms home to St George’s Community Rooms. The rooms are used by local performers and theatre groups for rehearsals and local schools and cultural groups for educational and family events. On Sundays, the rooms are home to St George’s Community Church serving Thessaly and Nine Elms, and during the week the Artist in Residence Alexa Muen creates wonderful images of light and elegance from her on-site studio.

Sol Golden Sato

Sol Golden Sato is an artist who likes to work with people and places using painting, fabric sculpture and film in a mixed performance and participation. Sol seeks to instigate the creation of cultural communities by acting as catalysts for social engagement that leads to all of re-imagining how we live and want to live.

Community is important and central to how Sol works. Sol views London as one family and has worked from Portobello road and King’s road in West London, Selfridges flagship store in Central London, Clapham Junction South London to Waltham Forest in North London.

Big Up Communities

Big Up Communities is a not-for-profit organisation that offers creative and community led activities and volunteering opportunities for all ages and abilities. This includes, filmmaking, Art, Music Production, MMA fitness, SEN specific groups and adventure play.  

Urban Canopy

Urban Canopy are a community gardening organisation that has worked with residents across Patmore, Savona and Carey Gardens estates to improve outdoor public space, host educational gardening activities, and bring community groups in the area together. 

In January and February 2020, Urban Canopy worked with children from Patmore Estate to create Patmore Food Forest, a foragers paradise of edible plants, mixed with pollinator-friendly flowers, all planted up using forest gardening techniques.
