Attuned to the position of the sun in May, Urban Canopy are creating a human-powered floral sundial on the Patmore Estate and a series of interlinked flowerbeds that reflect on the garden at different times of the day.
Residents and visitors to the estate are invited to stand at the centre of the sundial and follow the shadow cast by their body, and a trail of coloured plants, to the morning, afternoon or evening garden. Here they can collect plants to brew herbal teas connected to each interval – energising peppermint, fennel to aid digestion and camomile to aid restful sleep.
This project has been commissioned by Nine Elms Vauxhall Partnership for the Chelsea Fringe at Nine Elms on the South Bank.
