In honour of International Women’s Day, Battersea Power Station has invited Somali women from local community organisation, Elays Network, to curate an exhibition in celebration of Somali culture.
Asha Mohamed is a Somali-British illustrator creating thought-provoking work. Her illustrations provide satirical commentary on the trials and tribulations of the everyday.
Qansa Omar is an Abstract Painter concerned with the co-existence of perfection and imperfection, intricately combining Islamic geometry and western abstraction.
Khadija Mahamud is a creative content creator and the founder of ‘Real Men Empower Women’, a social media campaign aiming to challenge the stigma attached to male engagement around women’s issues
Elays Network is a non-profit, multi-faceted community organisation based in Wandsworth, focusing on four key areas (1) empowering young people, (2) engaging adults in need, (3) preventing isolation amongst senior citizens and (4) providing advocacy support.
