London Festival of Architecture Edible Avenue SW8.
Volunteers are needed on 11 June and 12 June to help plant out a community Garden. Inspired by New Covent Garden Market’s bounty of fresh produce, a once grey and congested thoroughfare will be turned into an interactive streetscape. Traditional white picket fences will emerge from the neigbhouring market’s boundary wall, playfully folding and curving to form welcoming community seating and space to linger. The installation will morph into a series of planting areas with fruit bushes, trailing plants, edible flowers and herbs planted throughout.
