Supply Nine Elms: connecting local suppliers with major buyers

If you’re a Wandsworth or Lambeth based business, this programme is for you. Supply Nine Elms on the South Bank is a free supply chain support project that offers you a direct line to major buyers in the area. The programme pairs local businesses with relevant buyers to offer a range of 1-2-1 support and training to get them ‘tender-ready’ and in pole position to compete for new contracts.

The Supply Nine Elms on the South Bank programme is run by Wandsworth and Lambeth councils. Last time, it was successful in ensuring £2.2million worth of new contracts for local businesses so it’s back for a third round.

45 local companies attended the recent launch event at Battersea Power Station, which was enthusiastically received.  Gary Wheadon, Director of D. Sully & Son, a Nine Elms-based removals firm, commented: “Many thanks for hosting a great event.  Nine Elms is going to be a great success and it so good to see that local people and companies are participating in this.”

The focus of this supply chain support project will be matching the needs of the developers, their contractors and property maintenance companies with local SMEs.

As well as construction-related contracts there will be opportunities for other industries, including catering and facilities management, security and cleaning, landscaping, concierge services, furniture supply & design.

Marlon Mendoza Torres, owner of Lambeth-based GSL Cleaning Services Ltd said: “We registered for the first round of Supply Nine Elms in 2014 and would urge any local business to do the same.  As a direct result of a Supply Nine Elms networking event we attended last year, we pitched for and won a 4-year contract with FLO, who are working on the Northern Line Extension, worth £32,000.  The support provided by the Supply Nine Elms programme is fantastic and it’s free to register, so it’s a no-brainer.”

There are now around 40 development sites under construction in the Nine Elms Vauxhall regeneration area which translates into plenty of new contract opportunities.

Buyers actively seeking suppliers through the Supply Nine Elms programme include Battersea Power Station, One Nine Elms, The Dumont, Embassy Gardens, Aykon, New Covent Garden Market, Palace View, Keybridge House and the Northern Line Extension.

It’s free to register and the next series of networking events and supply chain development workshops are running from April 2017 to March 2018.
