Nine Elms and Vauxhall are buzzing with all sorts of new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities – with Wandsworth and Lambeth councils ensuring that residents get first refusal on many starter roles. There’s Wandsworth Work Match and Lambeth Working, two groups that provide extra help to train and apply for these jobs.

Meet Perry.

Perry started on a 4-week work experience and training with K+M Decorators through Battersea Power Station Development Company. But that was only the beginning. After finishing the 4-week placement, Perry got offered the role of Painting and Decorating Improver at Cousins where he now works.

It’s not where he expected to be but he’s looking forward to learning more about the trade as time goes on: “It’s been very challenging but also exciting at the same time.” Now, Cousins is providing Perry with his NVQ 2 on site to become a qualified painter and decorator.

If you’re interested in jobs, apprenticeship or training opportunities and live locally, the good news is that there’s a service to help you with this.

Wandsworth residents can contact Wandsworth Work Match, the recruitment team whose goal is to put local people in new opportunities coming up in Nine Elms, like jobs in hospitality, catering, customer service and security.

To contact Work Match call 020 8871 5191, email your CV to wandsworthworkmatch@wandsworth.gov.uk or find a full list of vacancies on their website.
